Peel & Stick Wallpaper Installation
Step 1: Prep and Inspect
Step 1: Prep and Inspect
Show your wall some love! Clean it thoroughly, let it dry, and make sure it's as smooth as possible. This wallpaper thrives on clean surfaces. Let the rolls sit in the room for 24 hours to acclimate. Give them a once-over—if anything looks off, reach out to us!
Step 2: Gather Your Tools
Step 2: Gather Your Tools
Time to gear up! You’ll need: Wallpaper, measuring tape, scissors, straightedge, pencil, level, craft knife with extra blades, smoothing tool, step ladder, and an apron or tool-friendly clothing.
Step 3: Cut Your Wallpaper Strips
Step 3: Cut Your Wallpaper Strips
Precision is key! Pre-cut strips to match the wall height, leaving a little extra at the top and bottom for trimming. Align the design from strip to strip for a seamless look. A sharp razor knife is your best friend—swap the blade often for crisp cuts.
Step 4: Mark Your Starting Point
Step 4: Mark Your Starting Point
Measure the width of your wallpaper roll and use a plumb line to mark a vertical guideline. Start from a corner, leaving about an inch for trimming.
Step 5: Position the First Strip
Step 5: Position the First Strip
Now for the fun part! Peel 12” to 24” of the backing from the top and place the wallpaper at the top of the wall, letting a little extra hang over the ceiling (you’ll trim that later).
Step 6: Apply and Smooth
Step 6: Apply and Smooth
Work from top to bottom, peeling the backing away as you press the paper onto the wall. A two-person team works best—one guides while the other holds. Use a plastic smoother to get rid of bubbles.
Step 7: Trim the Edges
Step 7: Trim the Edges
Time to tidy up! Trim the excess at the ceiling and baseboard with a straightedge and a sharp razor knife. Swap out the blade as needed for the cleanest cut.
Step 8: Apply the Remaining Strips
Step 8: Apply the Remaining Strips
Repeat the process, aligning each new strip with the previous one. For some patterns, a slight overlap (about 1/16”) can help ensure a perfect match.
Repositioning or Removing
Repositioning or Removing
Need to adjust? Start at the top corners and gently peel downward. If removing, be careful to keep the adhesive surfaces from sticking to each other—they can be tricky to separate.
